IMRAN KHAN, ACCRINGTON AND BLACKBURN SEX OFFENDER, ARRESTED FOR BREACHING REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

In August 2014, law enforcement authorities in East Lancashire took decisive action to apprehend Imran Khan, a 26-year-old man from Clifton Street, Accrington, who was suspected of violating the conditions set forth by the Sex Offenders’ Register. The arrest followed an investigation into his failure to comply with mandatory reporting obligations, which are crucial for monitoring individuals convicted of sexual offenses.

Imran Khan’s criminal history includes a caution issued in August of the previous year, when he was found to have incited a girl aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activity. As a result of this offense, he was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of two years, a measure designed to ensure ongoing supervision and community safety. Despite being subject to regular checks and monitoring, Khan did not inform authorities of a change in his residential address, which constitutes a breach of the conditions attached to his registration.

The police, actively seeking to locate Khan, issued a public appeal for assistance in tracing his whereabouts. They emphasized the seriousness of his breach, which raises concerns about potential risks to the community. Detective Chief Inspector Claire McEnery, representing Lancashire Constabulary’s Public Protection Unit, publicly stated, “Imran Khan is a sexual predator with a high risk of committing sexual offences, and I would urge anyone with information on where he might be to contact us. I would also urge Imran himself, if he sees this appeal, to hand himself in to the police.”

Authorities have made it clear that Khan is wanted for failing to adhere to the legal requirements of his sex offender status. The police have requested that anyone with relevant information call 101, where details can be forwarded to the Dangerous and Sexual Offenders’ (DASO) Unit based in Darwen.
