STALKER HARASSED EX-PARTNER BY STARING AT HER FLAT AND QUOTING NETFLIX DRAMA
Immanuel El, aged 26, was sentenced to prison after violating a restraining order that barred him from contacting the woman involved.El had been accused of harassing his former partner by repeatedly staring at her apartment and sharing a quote from a Netflix series on social media.
His actions constituted breaches of the court-mandated restraint, leading to his incarceration.
During a hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court, he admitted to three counts of breaking the restraining order through harassment.
The court was informed that El, who resides on Abergele Road in Old Colwyn, was previously ordered not to contact the woman following a stalking conviction in August 2019.
The victim was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer at the time.
In the months of September, October, and November, El breached the order on three separate occasions.
For instance, on September 14, he was reported to have visited his ex-partner’s flat in Colwyn Bay around 1 a.m., where a car horn was heard.
Later that day, he was observed staring through her window.
In total, he made 24 contacts with her.
On October 20, he approached her on the street and inquired about her visitors.
Subsequently, on November 4, he contacted her via Instagram through an account titled FunnyQuotes, where he left a video message quoting dialogue from the Netflix series You: “I’m your soulmate and I f****** wolf you, my love.” El and his ex-partner had watched this episode together.
Defense attorney Elen Owen explained that El had experienced a traumatic childhood, having been in foster care since age six and diagnosed as autistic at 11.
She stated that his ex-partner had alternatively shown affection and coldness, leading to her apparently 'stringing him along.' Owen added that the original restraining order was sought by the woman herself, but it was not lifted.
She emphasized that there had been no physical contact or serious violations of the court order.
However, Judge Nicola Saffman described the breaches as 'persistent' and emphasised that El’s conduct had caused his ex-partner to feel anxious and fearful, resulting in a one-year prison sentence.
