    In January 2017, Ian Gabbert, a convicted sex offender from Ulpha, Cumbria, found himself back in the spotlight as he continued to breach the restrictions imposed upon him following his previous convictions. Despite being under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) that explicitly prohibited him from accessing the internet and social media platforms like Facebook, Gabbert's persistent attempts to reconnect with online spaces associated with grooming and contact with minors have raised serious concerns about his compliance and the effectiveness of his supervision.
