TOY COMPANY OWNER IAN BUCKINGHAM JAILED IN BOSCOMBE FOR HORRIFIC CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Boscombe, Ian Buckingham, the owner of a local toy company, was sentenced to prison after authorities uncovered a horrifying collection of child abuse images stored on his personal computers. The incident came to light in December 2017 when police executed a search warrant at Buckingham’s residence on Roumelia Lane, revealing a cache of over 1,100 images depicting the most severe forms of child exploitation.During the court proceedings at Bournemouth Crown Court, a forensic officer with 17 years of experience described the images as the most disturbing he had encountered in his career. Prosecutor David Reid detailed that the seized material included more than 600 videos, all classified in the most serious category of abuse. The images portrayed young children, some as young as infants, being subjected to acts of torture and extreme pain, with one particular case involving an infant no older than 12 months.
Reid emphasized the severity of the content, stating that over 100 of the images fell into the highest category, Category A, which depicted children little more than babies being tortured. The evidence presented showed that Buckingham, 40 years old, had a prior conviction from 2001 for an unrelated offense, but this case marked a new and more heinous criminal activity.
The court was informed that Buckingham had a total of 1,146 images and videos in Category A, 373 in Category B, and 3,175 in Category C. Additionally, he possessed 95 images classified as extreme pornography involving bestiality. Buckingham admitted to 19 counts related to possessing indecent images and extreme pornography.
Further details revealed that Buckingham was listed as the director of Fidget Brothers, a toy company registered at his former flat in Boscombe. The court heard that he had relinquished that property, citing it as no longer suitable, and he currently had no fixed address. The judge, Peter Crabtree OBE, sentenced Buckingham to 20 months in prison. In his remarks, the judge condemned the actions, stating that such material fuels a vile industry that causes lifelong harm to victims, including children and women, who are often forced to perform acts involving animals.
As part of his sentence, Buckingham was also subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and mandated to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, underscoring the gravity of his crimes and the community’s need for ongoing protection.
