IAN ARTHURS BANNED FROM BOURNEMOUTH SCHOOLS AFTER SHOCKING INDECENT EXPOSURE INCIDENT

In a disturbing incident that took place in Bournemouth, Ian David Arthurs, a 36-year-old man known for running a window cleaning business with his wife, was apprehended and subsequently sentenced to prison for his inappropriate behavior involving a young girl. The incident occurred in an area densely populated with educational institutions, raising serious concerns about public safety and the conduct of individuals in sensitive locations.

According to court reports, Arthurs made a lewd sexual comment while exposing himself to a 15-year-old girl. The event unfolded in Winton, Bournemouth, in July of the previous year. The young girls, who were walking in the area, were approached by Arthurs, who shouted, “Oi! Sexy!” at them as he stopped his van in the middle of the road. The girls, understandably alarmed, responded by continuing their walk. However, Arthurs then asked them directly how old they were, to which they replied that they were both 15.

Prosecutor Paul Hester explained that the girls, feeling understandably worried and uncomfortable, took immediate action by capturing a photograph of Arthurs’ vehicle, which was a van. Shortly afterward, Arthurs returned in his van, and one of the girls noticed that the vehicle’s door was slightly open. It was at this point that she saw Arthurs expose himself and make a lurid sexual comment, further escalating the distressing situation.

During police questioning, Arthurs, who operates Arthurs Window Cleaning from his residence on Poole Lane in Bournemouth, admitted that the van in the photograph was indeed his. He also acknowledged shouting at the girls but claimed that his actions were merely “banter and a joke,” denying any intent to make lewd remarks or engage in inappropriate behavior.

Defense lawyer Hamish Dunlop described Arthurs as “in denial,” emphasizing his client’s married status and suggesting that his behavior was out of character. Despite this, the court found the evidence compelling and appropriate for sentencing.

Judge John Harrow handed down a sentence of five months in prison for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, with an additional two months to run concurrently for the indecent exposure charge. The judge also mandated that Arthurs attend a sex offenders’ course and imposed an indefinite ban on him working with or living with anyone under the age of 18 without prior permission. Furthermore, Arthurs was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of seven years.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Harrow acknowledged that Arthurs’ behavior appeared to be out of character but expressed concern over the “sinister aspects” of his actions. The judge emphasized that Arthurs had no legitimate reason to be in the vicinity of several schools at that time, highlighting the potential danger posed by his conduct in such a sensitive area.
