ABERCYNON MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR DOMESTIC ASSAULT AND COERCIVE CONTROL
Huw Jones, aged 58, from Abercynon, was involved in a domestic violence incident where he physically assaulted his partner after she was diagnosed with cancer and had been controlling her food and clothing choices.
The court heard he was also in a relationship with another woman, for whom he purchased identical clothes to those he forced his partner to wear.
Jones, during the incident, became extremely aggressive; he accused her of wanting to be 'centre of attention', called her a 'slut', and subjected her to physical assault, including grabbing her face, pushing her, punching her, and kicking her.
His victim suffered multiple injuries, including red marks and bruises, and described feeling dejected, demeaning, and vulnerable.
Jones has prior convictions, including violent offences against former partners.
He pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling/coercive behaviour.
The court sentenced him to 33 months imprisonment and imposed a restraining order for 10 years.
The judge characterized him as an 'aggressive bully' and a 'serial perpetrator of domestic violence,' highlighting his history of similar offences.
