LONGSIGHT MEN HUSSNAIN AHMED AND OMAR ALI SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN MANCHESTER
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Manchester, two men from Longsight, Hussnain Ahmed and Omar Ali, have been sentenced to 11 years in prison each after being found guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place on June 28 of the previous year, and the details of the case reveal a troubling pattern of exploitation and abuse.According to court records, the young girl, who was in the care of a local facility, was approached by Ahmed and Ali after they noticed her in an intoxicated state outside the care home. Recognizing her vulnerability, the two men persuaded her to enter their vehicle, despite her apparent intoxication. They then drove her to a secluded location in Alderley Edge, where they committed the heinous act of sexual assault. After the assault, they left her some distance from the care home, leaving her to walk back alone.
Upon returning, the girl informed staff at the care home that she was feeling unwell, prompting them to contact the police. It was during this investigation that the theft of her mobile phone was uncovered. Ahmed, residing on Duncan Road, and Ali, from Sunnybank Road, had taken her phone before the assault. Several days later, the girl encountered Ali again, who returned her phone. The device contained stored contact numbers for both men, which she handed over to Detective Sergeant Adam Cronshaw.
Using the information from the phone, authorities summoned Ahmed and Ali to Longsight Police Station. Both men were promptly arrested. Forensic analysis of the phone revealed DNA evidence linking them to the crime, confirming their involvement in the sexual assault. Despite the evidence, the defendants claimed that the girl had consented to the sexual activity, a defense that was ultimately rejected by the court.
Detective Sergeant Cronshaw expressed his outrage over the case, emphasizing the exploitation of a vulnerable young girl. He stated, “Not only did Ali and Ahmed rape a defenseless young girl, but it is clear they exploited the fact she was from a care home, intoxicated, and vulnerable. I hope this case demonstrates that Greater Manchester Police takes the issues of rape and sexual exploitation of children extremely seriously.”
He further added, “Just because a child does not live with their parents, it does not mean no-one cares and it does not mean they should be subject to the sort of sexual exploitation by the likes of Ali and Ahmed just for their own gratification. I am absolutely delighted that the jury saw through the lies they spun and convicted them of rape.”
