SOUTH AYRSHIRE SEX PREDATOR SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON
A VIOLENT South Ayrshire sex predator who repeatedly preyed on two young girls for more than a decade has been jailed for 12 years.Hugh Brown, aged 54, was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, July 2.
The judge praised both victims for speaking out about their horrific experiences.Brown was convicted of 13 charges, with his attacks occurring in Ayr and elsewhere between 1993 and 2004.
His crimes included the rape of one girl and the attempted rape of the other. The abuse involved restraining one victim on a bed, abusing another girl while she was asleep, and being physically violent, including hitting and choking one of the girls.
The victims showed great courage in coming forward. The judge, John McCormick, ordered Brown to be supervised for three more years after his release and placed him on the sex offenders register.
He also banned Brown from contacting the victims indefinitely.
The judge described the crimes as "devastating and life-changing" and highlighted the jury's unanimous acceptance of the victims' credibility.
Brown's defense claimed he continued to deny the offending and had no explanation for the allegations. The court emphasized the seriousness of his crimes and the lasting impact on his victims.
