MAN JAILED AFTER RAPING AND FILMING WOMAN
A man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after being convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a woman while recording the crimes on his mobile device.
Hubert Greliak, 33, of Highbury New Park, N5, was also issued a restraining order against the victim by Isleworth Crown Court on April 12th.
His prison sentence will include 13 and a half years of detention, with the rest served under supervision on license.
The court praised the dedication and professionalism of the officer carrying out the investigation, awarding him a Judge’s Commendation.
Greliak had previously been convicted of rape and assault by penetration at the same court on January 7th, following a trial.
He had also confessed to theft and failing to disclose his phone PIN (Section 49 Notice) when the trial began in December 2021.
The victim reported the assault and theft happening in January 2020 in Ealing, prompting an immediate response from the local Safeguarding team.
After Greliak was detained and his phone seized, he refused to unlock it by providing the PIN.
This resulted in charges being laid in March 2020 for sexual assault, theft, and non-compliance with the notice.
Further testing of the victim’s hard drive in February 2021 revealed evidence of rape, leading to an additional charge against Greliak.
He was initially released on bail but later breached this condition.
The Metropolitan Police’s Predatory Offender Unit, a team dedicated to high-risk offenders, located and arrested him, subsequently fitting him with an electronic tag.
Throughout the process, the victim was supported by specially trained officers and partner agencies, with the Sexual Offences Investigation Team’s officer receiving thanks for their role in the case.

Detective Inspector Julian Crabb of the Metropolitan Police's West Area Command Unit Safeguarding Team stated, "We are absolutely committed to tackling all forms of violence against women and girls and are dedicated to achieving criminal justice outcomes for victim-survivors as we have in this case." He praised the victim's bravery, saying, "The victim bravely went through the ordeal of a trial and thanks to both her compelling evidence and the work of the investigation team, we were able to put this man behind bars for a long time."
