Howard Johnson, a man aged 52 from Walsall, has been handed down a prison sentence of three and a half years following a series of disturbing and prolonged acts of controlling and violent abuse directed at his long-term partner. The relationship between Johnson and his partner had spanned an extensive 27 years, during which his abusive behavior escalated to severe levels, prompting legal action and criminal proceedings.

Details from police reports reveal that Johnson engaged in a pattern of aggressive and coercive conduct, which included frequent physical assaults, public humiliation, and degrading treatment. Witnesses and victims described how Johnson would regularly beat his partner, often in private but also in public settings, where he would belittle her in front of others. One particularly shocking incident involved forcing her to eat from a dog bowl, a humiliating act intended to demean her dignity.

His controlling tactics extended beyond physical violence. Johnson would routinely throw his partner out of their shared home during cold nights, leaving her to fend for herself in harsh weather conditions.
