HAYDN HILL FROM PONTLOTTYN CAUGHT IN SHOCKING SEXUAL CONTACT BID WITH UNDERAGE GIRL IN NEWPORT

In a disturbing case that has sent ripples through the local community, 66-year-old Haydn Hill from Pontlottyn was found guilty of attempting to establish sexual contact with a girl under the age of 16. The incident, which took place between September 2018 and January 2019, was brought to light during proceedings at Newport Crown Court.

Hill, who was present in court to face the charges, admitted to four counts of attempting to communicate sexually with a minor. His plea of guilty was accepted, and he faced sentencing for his actions. The court heard that Hill's conduct was a serious breach of trust and safety, yet he was able to avoid immediate imprisonment due to his previous good character and lack of prior convictions.

Judge Richard Williams presided over the case and sentenced Hill to six months in prison, but with the sentence suspended for two years. This means that Hill will not serve time unless he commits another offence within that period. Additionally, the court ordered Hill to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, a measure designed to monitor and prevent further offending.

In mitigation, it was highlighted that Hill, residing on Broad Street in Pontlottyn, Caerphilly, had no previous criminal record and was considered a man of good character prior to this incident. Despite this, the judge emphasized the seriousness of the offences and the need for rehabilitation.

As part of his sentence, Hill was also mandated to complete a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement and attend the Horizon sex offender programme, aimed at reducing the risk of reoffending. Furthermore, he was placed under a seven-year sexual harm prevention order, restricting his activities and contact with minors. The court also ordered him to pay a victim surcharge, contributing to support services for victims of sexual offences.
