SOUTHPORT RAF CADET SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE
A Southport man who was on bail on suspicion of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl proceeded to target a second teenage victim.Hayden Carnall, an RAF cadet sergeant of Lulworth Road in Southport, sexually abused the younger girl, which resulted in her becoming unrecognisable, going from a top pupil to someone troubled at school and self-harming.
Carnall then coerced a vulnerable 15-year-old girl into performing a sex act in exchange for a lift and forced her to repeat the act.
Today, the 19-year-old was sentenced to six years in prison, with a judge describing his actions as “a nasty piece of offending.” Carnall admitted to having sexual activity with both girls, with the family of the 13-year-old revealing how their daughter’s behavior changed drastically after his assault.
The offences occurred when Carnall was aged between 17 and 19.
Judge Graham Knowles QC stated, “You said age doesn’t matter.
It does.
These were schoolgirls.
You knew what power, attraction, and sophistication you appeared to have.
This was not a case of teenage sexuality gone wrong; it was predatory sexual abuse.
Everyone knows that 17-year-old boys should not have sex with 13-year-olds.
It is morally wrong.
It was a nasty piece of offending, and you knew you were committing sexual crimes, so any immaturity on your part counts little.
These offences were planned and deliberate, not impulsive.” Two counts of sexual activity with another girl were ordered to lie on file.
