BRADFORD MAN JAILED FOR BRUTAL DOMESTIC STRANGULATION AND THREATS
A woman was left unable to breathe and feared for her life when her violent boyfriend Hassan Hussain strangled her and said: "This is the day I'm going to kill you." Hussain, 26, had been in a relationship with the woman for just nine months before he turned violent, beginning with an attack on May 9 last year where he punched her, grabbed her, threw her onto a bed, and strangled her for the first time.On June 2, he became aggressive again when she wouldn't let him access her phone, strangling her to the point she couldn't breathe and bashing her head into a wardrobe.
He then continued his assaults, telling her "This is what cheats get," and hitting her in the head.
During a video call with friends, her injuries were visible.
On July 4, Hussain assaulted her over a two-hour period, after drinking vodka and smoking cannabis, strangling her repeatedly, throwing her to the floor, kicking her, and pulling her hair, all while telling her, "This is your day.
Today you're going to die." The police arrived after a neighbor heard screaming.
Hussain was arrested, spoke only 'no comment,' and eventually pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behavior and two counts of intentional strangulation.
He was sentenced to 42 months in jail, less time served on remand, and a 20-year restraining order was issued to prevent contact with the victim.
