SHEFFIELD MAN JAILED FOR RAPE, ASSAULT, AND ROBBERY
A “depraved” Sheffield man who raped, assaulted, falsely imprisoned, and robbed a woman has been jailed.Haseeb Khalil, 27, of Flaxby Road, Sheffield, has been sentenced to a total of nine years and nine months imprisonment for rape and a series of other offences.
On November 27, 2023, police responded to reports of two men seen with a gun and a knife in the Darnall area.
During the investigation, officers learned that a woman had been raped and a robbery had taken place at the scene.
Khalil’s clothing was recovered, and CCTV footage from nearby was reviewed.
He was subsequently charged with offences including rape, sexual assault, and robbery, and was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on May 24, 2024.
Khalil received his sentence for the rape and related crimes committed on November 27.
Additionally, he was sentenced for two counts of robbery, possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit robbery, possession of a bladed knife in a public place, and theft from a shop, all on the same day.
The investigation also led to the conviction of co-accused Amaad Yaseen, who received 20 months and four weeks imprisonment for theft, possession of a knife, and failure to surrender to police, with other charges to lie on file.
Detective Constable Gareth Rees praised the officers for their work, highlighting the depraved nature of Khalil’s crimes and the long custodial sentence, giving him almost a decade to reflect on the pain caused to his victims.
