HAROLD GIBBONS SENTENCED FOR SEX OFFENCES IN SNARESBROOK AND LITTLEHEY PRISON

Harold Gibbons, a man with a long history of sexual offenses, faced justice after a detailed and extensive legal process. The case against him culminated in a conviction at Snaresbrook Crown Court, where a jury found him guilty of eight counts of sexual abuse that spanned over twenty years. The offences involved three victims whose ages ranged from as young as three to sixteen years old at the time of the crimes, which occurred during the 1980s and 1990s.

Gibbons, who was 79 years old at the time of his trial, had a prior criminal record for similar offenses. He had previously been convicted of four sex crimes involving children aged between seven and eight years old. His past convictions had resulted in periods of imprisonment, reflecting a pattern of repeated offending.

The recent trial, which lasted four weeks, revealed the disturbing extent of Gibbons' criminal activities. The jury's verdict confirmed his guilt on multiple counts of sexual abuse, leading to a significant sentencing. The court sentenced him to a total of 16 years in prison for these offenses.

Tragically, Harold Gibbons passed away in hospital on July 12, 2024, while serving his sentence at HMP Littlehey. His death was due to blood cancer, which was diagnosed in 2025.
