BRADFORD BIGAMIST AND ABUSER JAILED FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND THREATS
Hamza Khan, 42 years old from Bradford’s Frizinghall area, received a three-year prison sentence after being convicted of severe domestic assault and threatening to kill his wife and children. The reports described Khan as a "terrible bully" who physically abused his wife by punching, slapping, and biting her, which caused her to feel terrified.
Prosecutor Austin Newman explained that Khan had exhibited both physical and emotional abuse throughout their marriage, which started in Pakistan in 2006.
It was also revealed that Khan was unfaithful, and during a confrontation about this, he became angry and violent, grabbing his wife by the hair, slamming her into a table, and choking her.
He threatened to burn down their house if she refused to give him money, and after she declined, he searched the house for cash and jewelry.
The escalation of violence included grabbing her by the throat, pushing her, and biting her hand, forcing her to lock herself in the bathroom for safety.
Her injuries included bruises, a split lip, and a bite mark.
After the attack, Khan was released on bail with a condition to avoid contact with her.
Nonetheless, he repeatedly harassed her with three phone calls, drove to her residence demanding she drop charges, made threats against her and their children, and intentionally rammed his car into hers.
He was subsequently arrested and remained silent during police questioning.
Khan was sentenced for assault causing actual bodily harm and intimidation, with each offense resulting in an 18-month sentence to be served consecutively, totaling just under three years minus the time he had spent in custody.
The court also issued a permanent restraining order preventing him from contacting his wife again.
