KENNOWAY MAN GREGOR THACKER CAUGHT WITH OVER 15,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS IN SHOCKING CASE

In a disturbing case revealed at Cupar Sheriff Court, a resident of Kennoway named Gregor Thacker, aged 20, has been found in possession of an extensive collection of indecent images and videos depicting child abuse. The court heard that police discovered more than 15,000 such images along with over 200 videos on Thacker's personal computer, which was located at his home on Hill Road in Kennoway.

The investigation into Thacker's activities was initiated after authorities received confidential information that prompted a search of his residence. During the police visit, Thacker cooperated fully with the officers, providing them with the password to his encrypted computer system and voluntarily agreeing to visit the police station to give a formal statement.

The material found on Thacker's computer was classified across various levels of severity, ranging from level one to level four on the Copine Scale, a system used to categorize the explicitness of such images and videos. Specifically, authorities identified 14,656 images and 91 videos at level one, which is considered the least severe. Level two content included 152 images and 25 videos, while level three comprised 234 images and 37 videos. The most severe category, level four, contained 187 images and 52 videos.

Thacker admitted to possessing these illicit materials at his home address, acknowledging the downloads occurred over a period spanning from 2006 to 2011. Despite the gravity of the charges, Sheriff Charles Macnair chose to defer sentencing until November 21, and Thacker was granted bail pending further proceedings.
