GREG FROM OTTERY ST MARY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGE GIRL

In September 2020, a disturbing incident occurred in the quiet town of Ottery St Mary involving a local delivery driver named Greg. The incident came to light after a 15-year-old girl was subjected to an unwarranted and invasive sexual assault by Greg, whose actions have shocked the community and prompted a police investigation.

According to reports, Greg, aged 49 and residing on Richards Close in Ottery St Mary, took advantage of a situation where the young girl was working on her computer at her home. He initially persuaded her to give him a joke massage, claiming it was a harmless gesture. However, the situation quickly escalated beyond what was acceptable or consensual.

While she was seated, Greg approached her from behind and slid his hands inside her shirt, touching her breasts over her bra. The girl was so taken aback by the assault that she immediately left the house in distress. Recognizing the severity of the incident, she contacted her friends and her parents, who were then made aware of what had transpired. Her swift action led to the police being called to investigate the matter.

Greg was subsequently charged and appeared before Exeter Crown Court, where he admitted to the sexual assault. The court heard that he had engaged in this inappropriate conduct in a moment of breach of trust, which made the incident particularly shocking for the victim. The judge, Peter Johnson, sentenced Greg to a two-year community order. As part of this sentence, Greg was ordered to complete the Maps for Change sexual offenders’ course, a program designed to address and prevent future offending.

In addition to the community order, Greg was mandated to perform 120 hours of unpaid community service. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for a period of five years. To further protect the community, the court issued a sexual harm prevention order that prohibits Greg from having any unsupervised contact with underage girls and from making any contact with the victim or her family.

The judge emphasized the gravity of the offense, stating, “You were left alone with her and she trusted you completely. You sexually assaulted her and this was doubly shocking for her. Not only was it unwanted sexual touching, but it was done by someone she trusted. She was distressed and very quickly told her parents, and it appears you admitted what you had done to your wife, who apologized on your behalf.”

This case highlights the importance of safeguarding minors and the serious consequences faced by those who breach that trust in such a heinous manner.
