DUNDEE MAN, 48, JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
A 48-year-old man named Graham Watson has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of raping a woman aged 19.
The sexual assault took place in a Dundee flat on 15 January last year, happening while the woman was asleep and under the influence of alcohol, with the assault continuing once she regained consciousness.
In addition to the rape, Watson was convicted of another sexual assault at the Rewind nightclub in Dundee, where he touched a woman's leg several times on 14 or 15 January.
Watson denied the charges during his trial at Edinburgh's High Court but was ultimately found guilty.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
The judge commented on his employment background, calling it good, but expressed regret that someone of his age and background was in court for such a crime, stating, “You have a very good work record.
It is sad to see someone of your age and background appearing in this court to be sentenced for the crime of rape.” His residence was listed as a flat on Strathmore Avenue in Dundee.
