MAN JAILED FOR RAPING TWO WOMEN WHILE THEY SLEPT
A man who raped two women while they were asleep at different addresses in Old Kilpatrick received a six-year jail term.Graham Ross, aged 38 and from Port Glasgow in Inverclyde, repeatedly assaulted the first woman between December 2013 and February 2017.
He then attacked the second woman on April 22, 2017.
In both cases, Ross lowered the victims' clothing prior to committing the assaults.
Both women were intoxicated at the time and unable to give or refuse consent.
After a trial at the High Court in Glasgow, Ross was found guilty of the crimes.
Upon release from prison, Judge Tom Hughes mandated a two-year period of supervision for Ross.
The judge said: "These are very serious matters which had a considerable effect on both victims in this case.
"I read a victim impact statement which states that these offences have left both with catastrophic while will be life long.
"The circumstances are quite clear in this case and custody is inevitable because of the gravity of the crimes committed - it is the only appropriate disposal." Ross was put on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.
Frances Connor, defending, earlier told the sentencing: "Although his background report makes it clear that he doesn't accept the verdict, he does identify that being a victim of rape would be a traumatic experience for the victims."
