DUNDEE MAN AVOIDS JAIL FOR ONLINE GROOMING
A pervert caught grooming a person he thought was a child online has been told he was “very lucky” to avoid a jail term.Graham Kirk, aged 36, was apprehended after he complained to police that a vigilante group had been bothering him.
He had been attempting to make sexual contact with a decoy posing as a child from a group called Maximum Exposure Scotland.
Kirk was unaware he was talking to a decoy.
He pleaded guilty to sending sexual messages and a graphic image to the decoy named “Alexis McDevlin” via social media platforms WhatsApp and Skout between February 19 and March 2, 2019.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Sheriff Tom Hughes sentenced him to a community payback order with three years of supervision.
Additionally, Kirk is restricted from possessing more than one device capable of internet access and from being in the company of children without approval from supervising officers.
Sheriff Hughes stated: “You are very, very lucky not to be receiving a custodial sentence.”
