GRAHAM HORRIX OF BRACKNELL SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL

A young woman, who was subjected to a decade-long ordeal of abuse by a man now convicted as a dangerous offender, has courageously spoken out following his sentencing to a lengthy prison term. The victim, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, recounted the horrific experiences inflicted upon her by Graham Horrix, also known as DJ Elvis, a mobile disco entertainer from Bracknell.

Her account reveals that the abuse began when she was just four years old and continued until she was 14. The details of her suffering include multiple instances of sexual assault carried out by Horrix, who was 59 at the time of sentencing. The victim described how the first assault occurred in a toilet block near Horrix’s seaside caravan, where he initially attacked her. The abuse escalated to more severe acts, including rapes that took place on a mattress inside the back of his vehicle.

Prosecutor Corinne Bramwell detailed the disturbing nature of the crimes, stating, "When she was alone in the van, Horrix used that opportunity to sexually abuse her, and she describes wanting to scream but being too frightened to do so." The victim also recounted a particularly traumatic incident where Horrix forced her to perform oral sex and raped her again in his bathroom, further compounding her suffering.

Following the sentencing, the victim expressed a sense of relief and justice, saying, "I've finally got the news I've waited so long to hear. The disgusting, vile paedophile Graham Horrix is now in prison. I have spent so much of my life feeling ashamed of what happened, made worse by it being constantly dismissed and being told to forget about it. He will no longer have any control over me."

During the trial, evidence was presented indicating that Horrix kept a collection of pornography and condoms in his touring van, and that he had prior convictions for sexually abusing other young girls. The court heard that he had a history of such offenses, which added to the severity of his current conviction.

Judge Sallie Bennett-Jenkins QC, presiding over the case at Kingston Crown Court, sentenced Horrix to 14 years in prison. She emphasized the gravity of his crimes, stating, "They are grave offences. You were an adult yet committed a range of sexual offences against a child, who was young and extremely vulnerable. She was a child who had her innocence stripped from her by your brutal actions, and she has suffered severe psychological harm."

Horrix, who showed signs of defiance by shaking his head during the hearing, claimed that his partner had recently split from him and destroyed all his possessions, leaving him with nothing. Despite his protests, the court imposed additional restrictions: he was ordered to remain on licence for an extra twelve months after his release, and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order along with a Restraining Order was put in place to protect potential future victims.
