BRACKNELL PAEDOPHILE GRAHAM HORRIX SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL

In March 2017, a man from Bracknell was sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of heinous crimes committed against a young girl over a period of more than a decade. The victim, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, endured a series of traumatic assaults by Graham Horrix, also known as DJ Elvis, beginning when she was just four years old and continuing until she was 14.

Graham Horrix, aged 59 at the time of sentencing, maintained his innocence throughout the trial. His crimes were committed in various locations, including a seaside caravan and a toilet block near the victim’s home. The court heard that Horrix first assaulted the girl in a toilet block close to his caravan, which was parked near the seaside. Later, he raped her on a mattress inside his mobile vehicle, exploiting her vulnerability and trust.

Prosecutor Corinne Bramwell detailed the disturbing nature of the abuse, stating, “When she was alone in the van, Horrix used that opportunity to sexually abuse her, and she describes wanting to scream but being too frightened to do so.” The victim recounted additional assaults, including being forced to perform oral sex and being raped a second time in Horrix’s bathroom.

Following the sentencing, the victim expressed her relief and relief at finally seeing justice served. She said, “I’ve finally got the news I’ve waited so long to hear. The disgusting, vile paedophile Graham Horrix is now in prison. I have spent so much of my life feeling ashamed of what happened, made worse by it being constantly dismissed and being told to forget about it. He will no longer have any control over me.”

During the trial, the court learned that Horrix, who resided on Priestwood Avenue, kept a collection of pornography and condoms in his touring van. It was also revealed that he had previous convictions for sexually abusing other young girls, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior.

Judge Sallie Bennett-Jenkins QC, presiding over the case at Kingston Crown Court, sentenced Horrix to 14 years in prison. She emphasized the severity of his crimes, stating, “They are grave offences. You were an adult yet committed a range of sexual offences against a child, who was young and extremely vulnerable. She had her innocence stripped from her by your brutal actions, and she has suffered severe psychological harm.”

Horrix, who showed signs of defiance by shaking his head during the hearing, also faced additional penalties. The court ordered that he remain on licence for an extra twelve months after his release and imposed an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order along with a Restraining Order to protect potential future victims.

It was also noted that Horrix’s personal life had been affected; he claimed that his partner had split from him and destroyed all his possessions, leaving him with nothing. The court’s verdict underscores the gravity of his offenses and the ongoing impact on the victim’s life, as well as the community’s commitment to safeguarding children from such predators.
