MAN JAILED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT
Graham Ford, aged 59 and a resident of Rydon Gardens in Newton Abbot, received a prison sentence of four years and eight months for the attempted rape and sexual assault of a woman in Newton Abbot.The offenses stemmed from an incident in May 2021.
At Exeter Crown Court on March 25, a jury found Ford guilty of two charges.
During the hearing, it was revealed that Ford initially approached the victim and committed a sexual assault, prompting her to tell him to leave.
Subsequently, Ford approached her again and attempted to force himself on her.
The victim promptly left the scene and contacted law enforcement, resulting in Ford's arrest.
Detective Constable Kathryn Jago praised the victim’s bravery and affirmed the police’s dedication to combating violence against women and girls.
Ford has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
Despite his continuous denials, the victim’s courage contributed significantly to his conviction and subsequent sentencing.
