LOTTERY WINNER TURNED DOMESTIC THREAT JAILED FOR ASSAULTING WIFE
Graeme Lacey, aged 55, who gained notoriety as a lottery winner in 2016, has been remanded in custody at Dundee Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to a serious assault involving domestic violence. The incident occurred on June 23, 2019, on Old Dronley Road, Liff, where he attacked his wife in a brutal manner.
According to court reports, after returning home from a night out with his wife’s sister and brother-in-law, Lacey's behavior turned aggressive.
He insulted her, missed with a dog bowl, and then hit her with a pair of trainers.
Prosecutor Marie Irvine detailed that Lacey then approached the woman’s face, pinning her down and strangling her while shouting “die, ******* die.” Despite her pleas, he continued to strangle her, causing her to fear for her life.
Eventually, she managed to escape and was collected by her nephew.
Lacey was recorded telling his nephew, “I half expected you to be the police.
I have no regrets for what I did.” He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including throwing a dog bowl, hitting her with trainers, restraining her physically, and choking her to the point that her life was at risk.
The court indicated that a jail sentence was highly likely and decided to remand him pending a social work report.
The sentencing was deferred until November, and Lacey is currently in custody awaiting his fate.
