GORDON TURNER FROM GLASGOW AND ISLE OF BUTE BRANDED DANGEROUS PREDATOR AFTER UPSKIRT INCIDENTS INVOLVING TEEN GIRLS
A man from Glasgow, known as Gordon Turner, has been publicly condemned as a serious threat to young women after he was caught using his mobile phone to secretly record upskirt footage of unsuspecting schoolgirls. The disturbing behavior took place in the vicinity of New Park Street in Hamilton, and Turner’s actions have sparked outrage among local residents and authorities alike.Turner, aged 36, who has connections to both Glasgow and the Isle of Bute, was brought before Hamilton Sheriff Court last week to face multiple charges related to his misconduct. He admitted to five counts of breach of the peace, which involved a series of incidents targeting teenage girls in the area. The offences occurred in February of the previous year, and the court heard how Turner’s actions caused significant fear and distress among the victims.
According to Sheriff John Hamilton, Turner’s behavior was particularly alarming. The sheriff described how Turner had sat on the pavement with his arm extended, in some cases effectively “corralled” the victims into walking over his phone, which was recording footage. In some instances, Turner’s actions appeared calculated to capture images without the girls’ knowledge, raising serious concerns about his intentions and the potential for further harm.
During the court proceedings, Turner’s defense lawyer, Mark Connolly, stated that his client, who resides on Crossbank Avenue in Toryglen, Glasgow, accepted full responsibility for his actions. Connolly emphasized that Turner’s guilty plea had spared the victims from the ordeal of giving evidence in court. He also noted that Turner had maintained a clean record for several years prior to these incidents and acknowledged that custody was likely to be a significant consideration for the court. Nonetheless, he suggested that alternative measures could be considered.
Sheriff Hamilton expressed his disapproval of Turner’s claims that there was “nothing sexual” about his behavior, describing such assertions as “incomprehensible.” The sheriff pointed out that Turner’s actions, including upskirt filming of teenage girls in school uniforms, were inherently sexualized and deeply inappropriate. He emphasized that Turner’s conduct was not only demeaningly insulting but also degrading to the victims. The sheriff further explained that Turner’s behavior involved deliberate tactics, such as sitting on the pavement with his hand outstretched to narrow the space and guide the girls over his phone, which was recording footage.
In his remarks, Sheriff Hamilton highlighted the sinister nature of Turner’s actions, stating, “It is quite sinister. You sat on the pavement with your hand out to narrow the space and corralled these girls into walking over a phone that was recording. It is incomprehensible to say that is not sexualized behavior.”
As part of his sentence, Turner was placed under social work supervision for a period of 18 months. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid community service. The sheriff advised Turner that he would have the opportunity to address his offending behavior and encouraged him to take that chance seriously, emphasizing the importance of rehabilitation and awareness in preventing future misconduct.
