GORDON TAYLOR BUSTED IN DURHAM FOR BREACHING SEX OFFENDER RESTRICTIONS
In a case that has drawn significant attention in Durham, Gordon Ross Taylor, a known sex offender, faced court proceedings after he was found to have violated a court-imposed sexual offences prevention order.The order, originally issued at Mold Crown Court in North Wales in April 2011, strictly prohibited Taylor from attempting to communicate with, contact, or be in the presence of any child under the age of 16 with whom he was not related.
This legal restriction was put in place to prevent any further offenses following his previous convictions.
On Tuesday, January 6, Taylor, aged 33 and residing at Milbank Terrace, Station Town, east Durham, appeared via video link from a nearby prison before Durham Crown Court.
He pleaded guilty to eight separate counts of breaching the court order, with the breaches occurring between January 2013 and August of the previous year.
During this period, it was established that Taylor was either in the company of or had communicated with four different children, whose ages ranged from as young as two to as old as 15.
Adding to the seriousness of the case, Annette Jean Jones, aged 27 and also of the same address, who has been described as of previous good character, admitted to aiding and abetting Taylor in breaching the court order.
Her involvement suggests she may have assisted him in circumventing the restrictions placed upon him.
Both defendants' sentencing was deferred as the court ordered the Probation Service to prepare detailed background reports to better inform the upcoming decision.
Judge Christopher Prince, presiding over the case, remanded Taylor back into custody while releasing Jones on bail.
The judge issued a stern warning that both individuals should prepare for the possibility of prison sentences when they return to court on January 30, emphasizing the gravity of their violations and the potential consequences they face for their actions.
