GORDON LAPSLEY FROM DENNY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN INVERNESS AREA

In April 2019, a man named Gordon Lapsley, residing on Loney Crescent in Denny, Falkirk, was sentenced to eight months in jail after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16. The court also ordered Lapsley to be placed on the sex offenders’ register for a period of ten years, reflecting the severity of his actions and the need for ongoing monitoring.

The incident in question took place in Inverness, specifically within a house located in Culloden, on the night of February 14th and into the early hours of February 15th, 2017. Lapsley, who was previously living on Carnarc Crescent in Inverness, faced the charges after a thorough investigation into the matter.

The sentencing followed a deferred hearing last month, during which the court awaited a comprehensive background report on Lapsley. During the proceedings, his defense solicitor, Neil Wilson, acknowledged his client’s past criminal record but emphasized that there were no previous convictions of a similar nature. Wilson stated, “He has a lot of previous convictions but nothing similar to this. He remembers what happened and accepts full responsibility.”

Throughout the case, Lapsley expressed feelings of shame and embarrassment regarding his actions, which contributed to the court’s decision to impose an eight-month prison sentence.
