GORDON DUNCAN SENTENCED IN ABERDEEN FOR MULTIPLE SEX CRIMES AND ASSAULTS

A man identified as Gordon Duncan, aged 31, has been handed a nine-year prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple serious crimes involving sexual assault and physical violence against women in Aberdeen. Despite Duncan’s persistent claims of innocence, the court’s verdict confirmed his involvement in a series of heinous acts committed over several years.

The court proceedings revealed that Duncan was responsible for a disturbing assault on a woman in 2007. During this incident, he reportedly grabbed her by the neck, forcibly pushed her face into a sofa, and raped her at a flat located within Aberdeen. The evidence presented in court also established that Duncan was guilty of indecent assault on the same woman, during which he shoved a television set at her and again grabbed her by the throat, demonstrating a pattern of violent behavior.

Further charges included an assault on a different woman, which took place sometime between December 2007 and December 2009. During this period, Duncan was accused of shouting and swearing at her, pushing her against a wall, and physically seizing her, actions that caused significant distress and harm. The court also convicted him of a third serious offense in 2011, where he raped a woman who was restrained on a bed at a residence in Garthdee. The assault involved multiple acts of violence, including slapping, pushing, hair-grabbing, dragging her to the floor, and repeatedly hitting her head against a wall.

In addition to these sexual offenses, Duncan was convicted of brandishing a nail gun during an incident that occurred last year, further illustrating his aggressive tendencies. Following his conviction, Duncan was registered as a sex offender and was remanded into custody at Grampian jail. The presiding judge, Lord Glennie, highlighted Duncan’s history of violence and issues related to anger management during the sentencing.

Police Scotland’s Detective Inspector Fiona Topping publicly commended the bravery of the victims who came forward to testify against Duncan. She expressed hope that the conviction and subsequent sentencing would provide some measure of closure for those affected by his actions, acknowledging the courage it took for them to face their attacker and seek justice.
