GLEN WILSON OF CARSHALTON SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR GROOMING 19 GIRLS ON FACEBOOK IN CROYDON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Glen Wilson, a 25-year-old telecommunications engineer from Carshalton, was sentenced to five years in prison after a series of heinous crimes involving the grooming of underage girls on social media platforms. The offences, which spanned over two years, involved Wilson establishing online relationships with 19 young girls, some as young as 13, on Facebook and MSN Messenger.

According to court proceedings at Croydon Crown Court, Wilson used the pseudonym “Horseboy” on MSN Messenger to communicate with his victims. He engaged in manipulative and predatory behavior, including inviting girls to guess the size of his penis for a monetary reward of £1000. During these interactions, Wilson falsely claimed to be in the Guinness Book of Records for being the most well-endowed man in the world, attempting to lure and exploit vulnerable teenagers.

Wilson’s grooming tactics extended beyond online conversations. He convinced seven girls, between 2009 and 2012, to meet him in person. These meetings often took place in secluded locations where Wilson would make sexual propositions. To persuade the girls to meet him, he fabricated stories about being a wealthy porn model who would shower them with gifts such as shoes and clothes, which he claimed he had received through his modeling career.

In addition to the grooming, Wilson’s actions included explicit sexual advances. He offered money to girls in exchange for sexual favors, and in one disturbing incident, he drove two girls to Farnborough Football Ground. There, he told them he would give them more money if they could “get their hands around it,” referring to his genitals. On another occasion, he put a 14-year-old girl’s hand on his penis and told her “don’t be shy.”

Wilson’s criminal activities culminated in multiple charges. He pleaded guilty to ten counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, six counts of meeting a child following sexual grooming, and one count of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. Police executed a search of his residence, uncovering notes with a list of girls’ names, a resignation letter to BT, and a revealing note stating, “The clothes and the shoes are just an excuse to get girls to meet me because I’m not very good looking.”

During sentencing, Judge Shani Barnes condemned Wilson’s actions, stating, “There is no escaping the fact you prayed on young girls and it is no coincidence they are all 13 and 14. An extraordinarily large number of girls have fallen prey to you, and I have no doubt you would have carried on had you not been caught.” The case highlights the dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation.
