TEACHER, 27, WHO SENT SEEDY UNDERWEAR SNAPS TO BOY, 15, CAUGHT OUT BY HORRIFIED MUM
A teacher from the Midlands was found to have sent explicit underwear photos to a schoolboy shortly after beginning her teaching role, a misconduct hearing revealed.Georgia Lowe, aged 27, exchanged flirtatious emails featuring emojis, nicknames, and late-night messages with a 15-year-old student while employed at a school in Staffordshire.
Her messages included comments like "make me proud," "try not to miss me too much," and "you’ve already made my day." Her inappropriate communication also involved images of herself in underwear.
The misconduct only came to light when the boy's mother discovered Lowe’s revealing messages to her son.
Despite her suspension following the exposure, Lowe continued to contact the pupil, sending additional photos of herself.
A panel from the Teaching Regulation Agency concluded that Lowe breached professional standards, and her conduct amounted to misconduct.
She has now been permanently disqualified from teaching positions.
Lowe had been working as a trainee teacher at Kingsmead School in Hednesford from July 2021 until she resigned in November.
The panel’s report detailed that Lowe communicated with the student through emails decorated with emojis, including hearts and kisses, and used nicknames.
These emails often ended as late as 10 pm.
It was also noted that she failed to disclose the messages to anyone at the time.
When questioned by her employer, Lowe claimed she did not consider her messages inappropriate.
The mother of the boy reported her concerns in October 2021 after discovering notes believed to be from Lowe.
Initially, Lowe denied the charges of engaging in sexual communication with a minor but pleaded guilty at the start of her trial.
She received a 14-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, along with 20 days of rehabilitation and 120 hours of unpaid work.
Additionally, she will be on the sex offenders register for a decade and is subject to a five-year restraining order as of February 2024.
A judge described her actions as a "gross breach of trust," emphasizing her inappropriate communication and escalation to sharing images of herself in her underwear, which was deemed clearly unprofessional.
Although she showed remorse and was considered low risk for reoffending, the judge criticized her for continuing contact after her suspension had begun, including sending explicit pictures.
The misconduct panel highlighted that Lowe's contribution to teaching was minimal and her deliberate breach of safeguarding duties, especially after investigation commencement, demonstrated a conscious violation of professional boundaries.
Lowe did not attend the disciplinary hearing in July and was subsequently issued an indefinite ban from teaching in any educational or youth setting across England.
