GEORGE DOLLERY JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE IN VENTNOR AND CROYDON

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, 68-year-old George Dollery, a retired prison officer known for his previous work running rehabilitation programs for sex offenders, has been sentenced to prison for heinous crimes involving a young girl. The incident took place in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, where Dollery resided, and the allegations came to light during legal proceedings at Croydon Crown Court.

According to court records, Dollery pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of indecent assault, three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The victim, a six-year-old girl whose identity remains protected, recounted her experience, revealing that Dollery had kissed her. The court heard that the young girl told her mother about the incident, raising concerns that led to Dollery’s arrest.

During police interrogation, Dollery attempted to justify his actions by claiming that he did not try to force the girl and suggested that her behavior was playful, stating, “At no time did I try to force her into it. It was as if it were a game to her.” Despite his assertions, the evidence and his guilty plea confirmed his involvement in the abuse. Dollery acknowledged his guilt but also claimed that the girl was giggling during the incidents, which his defense argued might have influenced his perception of the events.

Mark Baylisz, representing Dollery, emphasized that his client was seeking treatment and wanted to understand the reasons behind his actions. He stated, “He has made no attempt to minimise his role or the impact on the child and her family.” The court was informed that Dollery’s criminal behavior had a profound and damaging effect on the young victim, robbing her of her innocence and causing lasting emotional harm.

In sentencing, Judge Simon Pratt condemned Dollery’s actions, stating, “It’s clear you have robbed the young girl of a large amount of the innocence of her childhood.” The judge also imposed a four-year prison term, a ban from working with children, and a requirement to register as a sex offender.
