GEORGE CLARK FROM SEATON AND ABERDEEN FACES SERIOUS CHARGES AFTER ANIMAL ABUSE AND VIOLENT ATTACKS

George Clark, born on July 5, 1996, has a troubling history of violent and reckless behavior that has brought him into the criminal justice system multiple times. His most recent incidents took place in Aberdeen, where he previously resided on Seaton Avenue and more recently at Brierfield House, Ashgrove. Clark was branded a "danger to animals" after a disturbing episode involving a parrot, which he threw around during a rage fueled by alcohol and legal highs.

On New Year’s Eve, Clark was seen drinking heavily and taking substances that are legally available, which appeared to exacerbate his aggressive tendencies. After returning to his home in Aberdeen, his behavior escalated into a violent outburst that alarmed his family members. His mother was awakened at approximately 3:45 a.m. when Clark forcefully ripped the door off his bedroom hinges and threw it through the window.

When she went to investigate the commotion, she discovered Clark in the living room, actively throwing his pet parrot’s cage across the room. The bird was visibly distressed inside the cage, and Clark’s actions posed a serious risk to its well-being. As his mother attempted to intervene and prevent further harm to the animal, Clark reacted violently, slapping her across the face and pushing her backwards, which caused her to fall to the floor. Fearing for her safety, she fled to her daughter’s nearby residence.

Clark’s rage did not end there. Following his mother’s departure, he proceeded to smash a brick through the living room window, further damaging the property. The police arrived at the scene later that morning, where Clark, then just 19 years old, attempted to evade arrest by providing a false name. Despite his efforts to conceal his identity, he was taken into custody and faced charges.

During the court proceedings, Clark admitted to recklessly destroying property at both addresses and assaulting his mother. He also confessed to causing unnecessary harm to the parrot and attempting to pervert the course of justice by giving a false name to the police. Sheriff Alison Stirling condemned his actions, stating, “Given your behaviour in that you threw a parrot in a cage about you are not an animal lover. You’re a danger to animals.”

In response to Clark’s request to walk his dog, the sheriff firmly stated that he was to have no contact with any pets, which would now be cared for by his mother. The Scottish SPCA’s chief inspector, John Carle, expressed hope that Clark would reflect on his conduct and the serious consequences of his actions.

As part of his sentencing, Clark received a community payback order requiring 80 hours of unpaid work and a 12-month supervision order. Additionally, he was banned from owning or keeping pets for six years, a restriction that expired in April 2022.

However, Clark’s criminal record extends beyond animal cruelty. In October 2022, he was sentenced to 15 months in prison after a violent incident involving a robbery and assault. Clark had attacked a man on Gerrard Street, Aberdeen, after the victim went out to source drugs. Clark demanded property from the man, searched his pockets, and stole his wallet and its contents. The court heard that Clark then assaulted the victim, stamping on his head when there was nothing left to steal.

Clark pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing injury and robbery. His defense lawyer, David Sutherland, acknowledged that custody was inevitable and noted that a court-ordered social work report was not favorable. Sutherland also pointed out that Clark had shown no remorse and attributed his downfall to drug use.

These incidents highlight a pattern of violent and reckless behavior by George Clark, whose actions have caused distress and harm to both animals and individuals in Aberdeen. His case continues to serve as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing underlying issues such as substance abuse and mental health to prevent future incidents.
