GEORGE DIXON BREACHES COURT ORDER IN ORTON GOLDBAY, PETERBOROUGH

In November 2019, Geoffrey Dixon, a registered sex offender residing in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, found himself back in legal trouble after violating a court-mandated order. The incident unfolded on October 16th when officers from the Public Protection Unit (PPU) paid a visit to Dixon’s residence following concerns raised by a member of the public about his suspicious behavior.

During the police visit to Dixon’s home in Birchwood, a neighborhood within Orton Goldhay, officers uncovered several violations of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). One of the key breaches involved Dixon having ordered a new laptop without informing the authorities, which is a direct contravention of the conditions set by his court order. This omission raised immediate alarm among the officers, prompting further investigation.

Further scrutiny revealed that Dixon had taken steps to erase digital evidence by deleting messages on WhatsApp, a popular messaging platform. Additionally, officers discovered that he possessed a bank card that had not been registered with the authorities, another clear violation of his SOPO. These actions demonstrated a deliberate attempt to conceal his activities and evade monitoring, which is a serious breach of the legal restrictions imposed on him.

Following these findings, Geoffrey Dixon, aged 58, pleaded guilty to the charges of breaching his Sexual Offences Prevention Order and failing to comply with his notification requirements. His case was brought before Peterborough Crown Court, where he faced sentencing. On November 22nd, the court handed down a sentence of 16 months in prison, reflecting the gravity of his violations and the ongoing concern for public safety in the community of Orton Goldhay and the wider Peterborough area.
