2016: PERSHORE RAPIST GAVIN PARMENTER JAILED FOR SIX YEARS
A PERSHORE man has been jailed for rape and perverting the course of justice.Gavin Parmenter of Pershore was sentenced at Hereford Crown Court on Monday to six years in prison for one count of rape of a female over 16, one count of sexual assault and one count of perverting the course of justice.
The incidents occurred in Pershore in April and July last year.
He was remanded in custody since his arrest in July 2015.
The 44-year-old, who was also placed on the sex offenders' register for life, had previously pleaded guilty to the offences.
Investigating officer detective constable Sarah Nicholson said: "We hope that this result provides some closure for the victim and sends a strong message to the public that rape and sexual offences are taken extremely seriously by West Mercia Police."
