A supermarket cashier known as 'Mr Aldi' used his position to access and secretly abuse children of customers at the Tewkesbury branch, betraying the trust placed in him by parents.
Customers affectionately called Gary Warburton 'Mr Aldi' because of his friendly demeanor and cheerful attitude, often greeting shoppers with phrases like 'Marvellous Monday' and 'Terrific Tuesday' as he worked.
Over time, he became close with many regulars, even caring for their children while they were out.
However, his charming exterior concealed a sinister reality: he was a paedophile who exploited his trusted role to abuse three young girls behind their mothers' backs, Gloucester Crown Court heard.
His crimes came to light when one mother unexpectedly returned home early from work to find her daughter semi-naked, wearing adult stockings, and being photographed by Warburton.
Separately, another mother noticed her daughter avoiding Aldi when Warburton was on duty, leading her to discover the abuse.
Warburton, of Walton Cardiff, was sentenced to 12 years and four months in prison, with a one-year extended parole license, after admitting to ten sex offences involving the three girls.
His charges included sexual assault, taking indecent photographs, sexual touching, and inciting sexual activity.
Evidence revealed the mother discovered Warburton taking explicit photos of her daughter in her bedroom with a selfie stick, and her daughter confided in her about the abuse.
Other victims and their families were also interviewed by police.
Warburton admitted all allegations, acknowledging he had broken the trust of the mothers but claiming the girls had not been coerced.
The court heard that his past convictions for flashing and indecent assault further体现 his dangerous behavior.
His lawyer described him as remorseful and suffering from significant health issues, including a double lung transplant.
The judge highlighted the ongoing threat he posed, issuing a lifelong sex offender register requirement and banning him from working with children.
