GARY TERRY FROM DRIFFIELD AND EAST BOWLING BRUTALLY ATTACKS YOUNG GIRL AND TERRORIZES EX-PARTNER

In a series of disturbing incidents spanning several years, Gary Terry, a man with a troubling criminal history, has been involved in multiple acts of sexual violence and intimidation. Originally from Bradford and later residing in Driffield and East Bowling, Terry's actions have left a trail of victims and legal consequences.

Back in March 2003, Terry, then aged 40, was convicted of heinous crimes involving a 13-year-old girl. He was sentenced to eight years in prison after being found guilty of one charge of raping a child under 16 and indecently assaulting the same victim. Despite his conviction, he was acquitted of seven additional sexual charges related to the same girl. As part of his sentence, Terry was ordered to register as a sex offender for life, a measure designed to monitor and restrict his activities following his release.

Years later, in October 2017, Terry's violent tendencies resurfaced in a terrifying incident involving his former partner. The victim, a woman in her 20s, recounted how Terry burst into her home while she was in bed, completely naked. He forcefully pulled the duvet off her and made a chilling threat, saying, “I’ll f*****g rape you.” Prior to this intrusion, Terry had also hung items of her underwear on the aerial of her car, an act that added to her distress and sense of violation.

The woman had previously been in a brief relationship with Terry, who was 55 at the time. Unbeknownst to her, Terry had a history of sexual offenses, which she was unaware of at the time. The incident occurred after they had gone out for a meal on July 18. When they returned home around 1:15 am, Terry became upset because she had apparently ignored him, leading to an argument. During this altercation, Terry grabbed her mobile phone and snapped it in half. He then pushed her onto a bed, causing her to hit her head on the headboard, and threw pieces of her phone at her, resulting in a cut to her scalp.

Fearing for her safety, the victim left the house and waited in her car until Terry appeared to have fallen asleep, allowing her to leave safely. She later reported the incident to the police. Terry was arrested but was released on police bail with strict conditions not to contact her. Subsequently, she moved into a new residence with her current partner, leaving her previous home unlocked in anticipation of her partner’s return.

However, Terry’s harassment did not end there. He was seen running upstairs in her new home, where he entered her bedroom. There, he knelt beside her bed and demanded, in angry terms, that she kiss him twice. The victim refused, repeatedly telling him to leave. Without warning, Terry pulled the duvet from her bed, leaving her exposed and vulnerable. She later described how she tried to cover herself with a pillow while he clenched his fists on the side of her head and shouted, “I’ll f*****g rape you. Give me a f*****g kiss.”

Her partner, upon arriving home, confronted Terry and demanded to know what he was doing there. During the confrontation, Terry was heard to say, “she was the best f**k I ever had,” and referred to both women as “dykes.” Terry then left the scene. The victim, supported by her sister, reported the incident to the police. When officers located Terry, he was found to be three times over the legal alcohol limit for driving, and a subsequent test confirmed he was twice over the limit. He was detained and charged with harassment, drink-driving, common assault, and criminal damage.

Represented by John Thackray, Terry, who originally hails from West Yorkshire, admitted to the charges. Thackray noted that Terry planned to leave Driffield upon his release from prison. During sentencing, Judge Mark Bury described Terry’s actions as deeply humiliating and offensive. He emphasized that pulling the duvet away was intended to embarrass and humiliate the victim, and that Terry’s subsequent comments were “disgusting.” The judge concluded that the severity of Terry’s offenses warranted an immediate custodial sentence, resulting in a 20-month prison term.
