GARY TARDITO JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK IN DUNDEE ON SOUTH BAFFIN STREET

Gary Tardito, a 44-year-old resident of Dundee, has been sentenced to prison following a violent assault that took place at an address on South Baffin Street in Dundee on April 14, 2024. The incident involved a brutal and sustained attack on a woman, during which Tardito repeatedly struck her on the head, inflicting serious injuries including a fractured nose and damage to her cheek. The assault was not limited to physical blows; he also grabbed her by the neck and forcibly dragged her into a bedroom, leaving her helpless and vulnerable.

Following a trial at Dundee Sheriff Court, the jury found Tardito guilty of this assault. The court described his actions as particularly dangerous, emphasizing the severity of the attack and the impact on the victim. Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith, who presided over the case, delivered a stern sentence, stating, "It wasn’t, as you suggested at the trial, you merely pushed her. It was a sustained attack upon a victim who was helpless and vulnerable to your greater power. I consider you are a danger to the public."

As a result, Tardito was sentenced to three years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to serve a further 12 months under supervised release conditions. The court also addressed a separate incident involving Tardito, where he was found guilty of abusive behavior towards another woman at the same Dundee address on May 12, 2024. This conviction further underscores his pattern of violent conduct.

It is noteworthy that Tardito has an extensive criminal history, including previous convictions for various offenses. Notably, he was involved in a raid at The Range in Lochee in 2023 and was caught on CCTV during a brazen break-in at The Giddy Goose restaurant in 2020. Sheriff Niven-Smith had contemplated imposing an extended sentence but ultimately decided on the current prison term, reflecting the seriousness of his offenses and his dangerousness to the community.
