GARY STEVENSON'S SHOCKING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY SCANDAL IN LINLITHGOW
In February 2010, a disturbing case emerged involving Gary Stevenson, a resident of Linlithgow, West Lothian, who was found to have secretly stored a collection of heinous child pornography on his parents' computer. The discovery was made quite unexpectedly when an engineer was called to repair the family’s computer system. During the process of replacing the hard drive with a new one, the technician uncovered a disturbing cache of illicit videos.Upon further investigation, the engineer contacted law enforcement authorities, leading to a police raid on the Stevenson family home in Linlithgow. The police swiftly responded to the tip-off and arrived at the residence to conduct a thorough search. During questioning, Gary Stevenson, aged 23, confessed to the possession of the illegal material, reportedly stating, “It was me that had films of kids.”
The police investigation revealed that Stevenson had amassed a total of 227 video clips depicting children in sexual situations. Of these, 150 were classified at the most severe levels of depravity, indicating the extreme nature of the content. The videos included young children as young as 18 months old, highlighting the disturbing extent of his collection.
Further details from the court proceedings at Livingston Sheriff Court disclosed that Stevenson had used a filesharing website to download these videos. He reportedly did so while his parents were either asleep or away from the house, attempting to conceal his activities. Stevenson admitted to possessing these indecent images of children between March 31 and May 1 of the previous year, raising serious concerns about his actions and the potential harm caused.
During the hearing, the fiscal depute Julia McLaren emphasized the gravity of the case, describing the videos as involving young boys and girls aged from 18 months up to 16 years old. The court was informed of the disturbing nature of the material and Stevenson’s role in acquiring and storing it. His actions have sparked outrage and concern within the community of Linlithgow, where such a heinous crime has come to light.
