REDCAR MAN JAILED FOR OBSESSIVE STALKING AND THREATS
Gary Enticknap, 49, a man with a criminal history including convictions for threats to disclose an intimate photo and controlling prostitutes, engaged in a stalking campaign against a woman he met through a dating app.
After she declined a second date, Enticknap sent her numerous threatening messages, including voice notes of him sobbing, and emails from fake police sources claiming he was dead, which he used to manipulate her emotionally.
He also threatened to share an intimate photo of her, claimed he had HIV, and sent a picture of a train track hinting he intended to harm himself.
His victim described the experience as 'seven days of misery and fear,' with her stating that 'the fear and emotional toll has all come about because a man could not handle rejection.' Enticknap was arrested eight days after their first and only date, and officers found multiple SIM cards in his home.
The court sentenced him to 26 months in prison, with a restraining order issued to prevent further contact with the victim.
The judge emphasized that there was no evidence of acute mental illness but acknowledged mental health difficulties, including an unconfirmed suspicion of bipolar disorder.
