MAN JAILED FOR DECADE OF DOMESTIC ABUSE AND THREATS TO BLOW UP EX'S HOUSE
Gary Edwards carried out a prolonged campaign of domestic abuse against his former partner, which involved several violent acts including grabbing her by the throat, punching, kicking, and damaging her belongings.She reported that he once locked her in a garage for two hours while she was pregnant.
Edwards also threatened to blow up her residence as she was trying to move on with her life.
Between 2017 and 2021, he attempted to trace her address and harass her through messages that contained insulting comments, direct threats, and requests for money.
The victim maintained a diary of significant abusive episodes in 2020 and 2021, providing vital evidence for the police investigation.
In October 2022, Edwards visited her new home and verbally abused her and her partner, even trying to provoke her partner into striking him and warning that he would ruin the house.
During his arrest at his residence, officers seized drug-related paraphernalia, cash, scales, and zip lock bags.
On 1 August 2024, Edwards appeared before Chester Crown Court, pleaded guilty to charges of threatening property damage, harassment, and possessing a psychoactive drug, and was sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
He was also subject to an indefinite restraining order protecting his victim.
