GARY CAMPBELL FROM PERTH FACES ANIMAL BAN AFTER KITTENS DIE FROM NEGLECT IN METHVEN BUILDINGS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community in Perth, a well-known pub quiz host named Gary Campbell is now facing potential legal action that could strip him of his ability to keep animals. The incident revolves around the tragic neglect and subsequent death of two young kittens, which were left to suffer in his flat located at Methven Buildings.

According to court reports, Campbell, aged 47 and residing on Carpenter Street in Perth, failed to provide basic necessities such as food and water for the helpless kittens. The animals were left confined within his residence for an entire month, during which they endured severe dehydration and starvation. The skeletal remains of the two kittens were discovered during a property inspection conducted in February of the previous year, revealing the extent of neglect that had taken place.

The Perth Sheriff Court was informed that the kittens' suffering lasted from January 19 to February 19, 2024. Campbell pleaded guilty to two charges related to the neglect and death of the animals. The court heard that the kittens had become terminally dehydrated, ultimately leading to their deaths. Sheriff Alison McKay, presiding over the case, decided to defer sentencing to allow for the preparation of detailed background reports. She also indicated that she was considering issuing an order that would prohibit Campbell from keeping any animals in the future.

The case was adjourned until the following month to give the Crown the opportunity to compile a comprehensive written narrative outlining the full circumstances surrounding the grim discovery. Stewart Duncan, the fiscal depute, emphasized to the court that there was substantial evidence in the case and that an agreed narrative would assist in understanding the full scope of the neglect.

In a related incident from 2021, Campbell, who was then living in Bridge of Earn, was involved in a separate case of abusive behavior. He had attempted to rekindle a romantic relationship with his former girlfriend by bombarding her with over 400 text messages, despite her clear requests for him to stop. Campbell also tried to persuade members of her family to intervene and convince her to resume their relationship.

He appeared before Perth Sheriff Court and admitted to engaging in a course of abusive behavior towards his ex between October 18 and November 11, 2021. As a result, he was sentenced to perform unpaid work and was ordered to stay away from the woman for a period of one year. The cases highlight a pattern of concerning behavior from Campbell, raising questions about his conduct and the measures that may be taken to prevent further harm.
