EASINGTON COLLIERY THUG GARETH LAVER JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON FIANCÉE
A violent thug who repeatedly kicked and punched his fiancée on the night of their engagement has been locked up for the brutal attack.
Gareth Laver of Allan Street, Easington Colliery, County Durham, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on June 14 this year.
The victim suffered multiple cuts, bruises, and a broken wrist.
Laver turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with post-traumatic stress disorder from childhood incidents.
Judge Jo Kidd sentenced him to two years and three months in prison and imposed an indefinite restraining order.
The court heard details of the attack, including Laver accusing his fiancée of cheating, slashing his own arm, and then assaulting her physically, which was witnessed by a neighbour.
