STALKER ALEXANDER ROSE JAILED FOR THREATENING PETROL STATION AT EASINGTON AND HIGH-SPEED POLICE CHASE

A stalker threatened to drive into and blow up the petrol station where his ex-partner worked before leading police on a high-speed chase.Alexander Rose, aged 37, was pursued by police after he was seen involved in a pursuit driving through the forecourt of the petrol station without stopping, looking towards the kiosk window.

Rose has an 'appalling record', especially for driving offences, and was sentenced to 16 months in prison after admitting charges of stalking, dangerous driving, and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. The incident followed the end of his four-year relationship with his partner in February.

Despite their break-up, they continued living together until March 26.

After she informed him she had started a new relationship, Rose became increasingly distressed and threatening.

On March 26, she said he left but returned two days later to the petrol station at Easington, where she worked, and threatened to drive into it and blow it up.

He drove through the forecourt, looking at the kiosk, causing her to fear for her safety.Rose later went to her home asking her to contact her, but she called police when he returned the next day, looking through her window.

This caused her to feel 'extremely frightened,' leading her to change her phone and locks for her home.Police tracked Rose and spotted his car on the A689 in Hartlepool.

He then led police on a high-speed chase along the A19, where he was seen holding a metal object.

After he sped through red traffic lights and over roundabouts at speeds of up to 70mph in a 30mph zone, he was eventually stopped using a tactical contact maneuver, damaging both cars.

He was tasered as he appeared to try to harm himself, dropping the object he was holding.

Rose refused to take a formal drug test and insulted officers during the incident. In court, Michael Cahill, representing him, said Rose's offending was related to his inability to cope with the breakdown of the relationship and his mental health issues.

Rose was also banned from driving for 14 months, required to re-sit an extended test, and was subject to an indefinite restraining order preventing him from contacting or approaching his ex-partner.Judge Paul Reid stated that Rose has 'an appalling record' particularly for driving offences and emphasized the seriousness of the stalking and dangerous driving offences, which crossed the custody threshold.

Rose, who has no fixed address, was sentenced to 16 months in prison for the stalking and dangerous driving, and an additional period for the driving ban and restraining order.

The court highlighted the frightening nature of his actions and the distress caused to his victim.
