DUNDEE STALKER JAILED FOR 22 MONTHS AFTER STABBING THREAT
A stalker named Fraser Watt, aged 45, from Castlehill Gardens in Dundee, was sentenced to 22 months in jail for threatening to harm his former partner and her new partner with a kitchen knife. He also received a ten-year non-harassment order to prevent further psychological harm and violence.
The court heard that Watt and his victim had been together for nearly six years, but the relationship had ended about two years prior to the incident.
Watt’s campaign of abuse began in February, starting with an uninvited intrusion into his ex-partner's home, where he threatened her new partner, saying 'Get out or I’ll stab you.
I’ll put it right through you.' When the new partner fled, Watt turned his aggression towards his ex-partner, verbally abusing her.
During the incident, Watt pulled the phone cable from the wall to stop her from calling the police and later stole her mobile phone.
He later contacted her claiming he would interrogate her phone to find out 'what she had been up to and who she had been in contact with.' Over the following days, Watt was repeatedly seen sitting in his car outside her home, calling, and texting to abuse her and threaten to destroy her life.
Police eventually tracked him down, and he admitted to some offences and denied others, claiming the relationship was still ongoing.
Watt was convicted of stalking between February 19 and 21, and the sheriff emphasized the seriousness of his threats, especially given his threats to stab with a knife, which raised fears of serious injury or death.
The court concluded that only a prison sentence was appropriate, and the non-harassment order prohibits him from any contact or conduct that might cause fear or alarm to his victim.
Watt’s background includes working offshore until heroin addiction made that impossible.
