FRANK MCLEARY, COATBRIDGE PAEDOPHILE, SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC 17-YEAR ABUSE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Coatbridge, Frank McLeary, a 67-year-old man, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a prolonged and heinous campaign of sexual abuse spanning nearly two decades. The abuse was inflicted upon two young girls, with the full extent of McLeary’s depravity only coming to light after one of his victims courageously confided in a family member about her suffering.

McLeary, who resides at Blairgrove Court in Coatbridge, was found guilty of multiple charges related to the abuse during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow in June. His sentencing took place last week, and the court proceedings revealed a disturbing lack of remorse on his part. Witnesses reported that McLeary, during the hearing, displayed a smirk in the dock, seemingly unrepentant for his actions.

A relative of one of the victims expressed their anguish and anger over the case, stating, “He has torn our family to bits with his actions. If it were not for the bravery of one of these young girls, who spoke to a relative about what he’d been doing to her, he would still be getting away with his despicable behaviour.” The relative further described the court reports, which indicated that McLeary showed no remorse, and recounted witnessing him laughing and attempting to make light of the situation during sentencing.

Reflecting on the impact of McLeary’s crimes, the family member said, “The things McLeary did were truly disgusting, and I feel so sorry for the girls whose lives he has ruined. All the emotions that had built up over the years came flooding back to them when they heard he had been jailed for 12 years. We just hope they can now get on with their lives and try to forget about this terrible excuse for a man.”

It is also noted that McLeary’s criminal activities were not limited to this case alone. In March of the previous year, he was placed under supervision and added to the sex offenders’ register after admitting to abusing another girl under the age of 13. This earlier conviction underscores the pattern of predatory behaviour that has now resulted in his current lengthy imprisonment.
