Ferdos Rabani, also known as Joshua Abdul and aged 48, received a 24-year prison sentence after being convicted at Sheffield Crown Court of raping a woman who was described as vulnerable.
The incident occurred in April 2016 when Rabani approached a 34-year-old woman, offered her a ride home, and then took her to a secluded location where he committed the assault.
Reports indicated that Rabani offered the woman cigarettes, which police believe were laced with drugs intended to induce drowsiness before the attack.
The victim reported the assault several weeks later with assistance from law enforcement.
PC Jess Hawley commented on the case, highlighting that Rabani took advantage of the victim’s vulnerability and caused her significant trauma.
Rabani was convicted of rape in November and is serving his sentence at HMP Marshgate.
