FAZAL HUSSAIN FROM LONGSIGHT JAILED FOR PLOTTING WITH SCHOOLGIRL IN DIDSBURY
In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Fazal Hussain, a married man and father of four from Longsight, was recently sentenced to prison for his involvement in a child abduction plot that took place in Didsbury. The incident unfolded in July of the previous year, when Hussain, who was employed at Dixy Chicken on Chorlton Street in Manchester city centre, engaged in a sinister scheme involving a teenage girl.According to court reports, Hussain used social media platform Facebook to establish contact with the underage girl, whom he had previously interacted with during a similar investigation in 2009. After gaining her trust, he arranged to meet her in person, booking a two-night stay at the Palatine Hotel in Didsbury. The plan was to share a double room, and it appears that Hussain was attempting to lure the girl into a situation that could have led to serious harm.
The plot was abruptly halted when police officers, acting on intelligence, obtained Hussain’s phone number the day after the girl went missing. When the girl called the number, she recognized Hussain, who she had previously spoken to during a police investigation in 2009. This recognition led to his swift arrest.
Hussain, of Sunnybank Road in Longsight, was taken into custody and subsequently appeared before Manchester Crown Court. During the hearing earlier this year, he pleaded guilty to charges of child abduction and abducting a child with the intent to commit a sexual offence. His actions drew widespread condemnation, and he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
The court proceedings revealed that Hussain had previously been warned under the Child Abduction Act in 2009 after a girl who had gone missing was found in his company at the same takeaway where he worked. Judge Andrew Blake, presiding over the case, expressed his disappointment, stating, “It’s sad that a man such as you finds yourself in this position, but you have only yourself to blame, because it could not have been made clearer to you by the police when you were issued with this warning.”
Defense attorney Rodney Marsh described Hussain as a hardworking family man who was genuinely concerned for the girl and claimed that his client did not intend harm. Marsh argued that Hussain’s actions were motivated by a desire to prevent the girl from wandering the streets alone after she sought his help. However, the girl’s mother expressed her distress, telling the court, “The whole incident terrified me. My daughter belonged at home with her family.”
Overall, the case highlights the dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable children from predators operating within the community.
