PERVERT PENSIONER EWART POOLE ORDERED TO SIGN SEX OFFENDERS' REGISTER AFTER TWO SEXUAL ASSAULTS
Pervert pensioner Ewart Poole groped a woman’s bottom - as she queued in a town centre bank. The 67-year-old put his hand underneath the victim’s coat to ‘cup her buttock’ as he stood behind her in Barclays Bank, in Kidsgrove.
Now Poole has been ordered to pay £150 compensation to each victim after he admitted two charges of sexual assault.
Prosecutor Richard McConaghy told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court: “The first assault took place in Barclays Bank.
The defendant entered the bank behind the injured party and stood behind her in the queue.
He put his hand under her coat and cupped her buttock over her clothing.” The injured party was taken to a side room by the manager and she recalls the defendant staring and leering at her.
Police arrested him and he denied doing anything wrong.
The court heard Poole, of Centre Court, Alsager, had been married with two children in his 20s and ran a business - before becoming an alcoholic.
Owen Edwards, mitigating, said: “It has led to him having a pathetic life.
He lives and functions via alcohol.
He is very isolated.” He bears a striking resemblance to Peter O’Toole in the play Jeffrey Bernard Is Unwell.
Poole has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for the next five years.
He was also handed a 12-month community order which includes a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 100-hours unpaid work.
