ALSAGER MAN SENTENCED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
A 36-year-old man who confessed to producing indecent images has been sentenced to 15 months in prison.Christopher Malpas, residing in Alsager, admitted that between June 10, 2023, and September 30, 2024, he created 29 Category A indecent photographs of children.
His sentence was suspended for two years.
In addition, Malpas also pleaded guilty to generating 170 Category B images and 767 Category C images during the same timeframe.
He was given concurrent suspended sentences of 19 weeks for these offences.
Chester Crown Court mandated that he complete 20 days of rehabilitation activities and perform 200 hours of unpaid community service within the following year.
He is also required to follow instructions from his probation officer.
Malpas is obliged to register as a sex offender with authorities for ten years.
A sexual harm prevention order lasting a decade prohibits him from having unsupervised contact or communication with any minors under 18, except under specific conditions.
It also restricts him from living in or entering any household with children under 16 without social services’ approval.
Police confiscated devices belonging to Malpas, and he is subject to restrictions on internet usage.
He cannot own any device without informing the police, nor can he use a device that does not record or delete internet activity.
Additionally, law enforcement can access his devices for inspection.
A related charge involving possession of 966 indecent images—comprising 17 Category A images and 12 videos, 163 Category B images and seven videos, along with 764 Category C images and three videos—was ordered to be kept on file.
Malpas has been fined and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £187.
Children’s indecent images are classified into three categories: Category A includes images depicting penetrative sexual activity, B covers non-penetrative acts, and C includes images that do not fall into the first two categories.
